Neighborhood & Lifestyle

In a city that is emerging with new, new, new, Central Austin prides its self on having some of the coolest and oldest places to hang out in Austin. Central Austin is broken up into several different “neighborhoods” which often merge into one another. You may have heard of Hyde Park, The Triangle, Northloop Crestview, Allendale, North Shoal Creek, but labels aside,  the central Austin area just north of Downtown Austin, close to West Campus and is a magical place to explore.

Dining and drinking

We can talk about the latest trend setting restaurants like The Peached Tortilla and Barley Swine for their award winning excellence in culinary exploration but what Austinites really go crazy for “besides a great happy hour” is how everything feels so local. It is the pride that owners and curators take in establishing their restaurants that make this area so unique. Sweet ritual Vegan Ice Cream, Royal Jelly, Top-Notch Hamburgers, and Eastside Pies “and they mean Pizza, not the Dessert” are just some of the gems that come to mind when ever we think of food excellence, paired with either city history or one heck of a story behind the name. For Austinites, going out to eat isn’t simply something to feed our hunger. It is more of an experience, and there is nothing better in life than sharing those experiences!

If you dare to dive, there are two dive bars that are a must. The first is The Aristocrat lounge formerly the Poodle Dog Lounge and has been in its original location since 1964. One of newest Dives is the Christmas all year bar called LaLa’s.

If it’s not a night to dive, one of Austin’s best cocktail lounges DrinkWell located in Austin’s most coveted vintage neighborhood strip, North loop, is a great place to pop in for a Green Matcha margarita or sample an array of their other decadent creations. All in all, whether you want to spend $3.00 or $13.00 on a drink, Austin has your back!

Apartments and Accessibility.

Being one of Austins older parts of town, you can find a wide variety of different styles of apartments from studio’s that continue to sport a funkier old Austin charm to the newer apartment style with natural light, wood flooring, and sleek, sophisticated interiors. The good news also is there are lots of little spots scattered through out to grab a bite to eat, snag a latte on your way to the office, or catch an Uber on your way to downtown!
